A clear approach to preparation

Knowing the facts and explaining an organised approach are different skills. Our proposed teaching brings them together through structured practice and reflection.

Understand the requirements

Start with the official AVBC requirements and identify what is relevant to your stage of preparation.

Practise with original scenarios

Use independently developed teaching cases to organise a response without relying on recalled examination questions.

Explain your reasoning

Make your priorities, proposed decisions and important risks clear to another person.

Develop clear communication

Practise concise answers and respond thoughtfully when a discussion introduces new information.

Reflect on feedback

Identify what you explained well and which parts of your response need further study or practice.

Plan supervised practice

Recognise the skills that require appropriate clinical supervision. A teaching workshop does not replace supervised experience.

Meet Dr Siavash Noor

Dr Siavash Noor brings experience in veterinary surgery, anaesthesia, clinical practice and education. He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a postgraduate doctorate in veterinary surgery from Urmia University in Iran. At the University of Western Australia, he managed the Preclinical Intensive Care Research Unit from 2014 to 2017 and taught surgical asepsis and instrumentation. His teaching background also includes veterinary surgery courses and the development of online learning materials. AVEprep brings this experience to focused, independent preparation for overseas-qualified veterinarians.

Meet the educator

Build a thoughtful preparation routine

Use a simple cycle: review the official requirements, practise an original scenario, explain your reasoning and identify what to work on next.

Start with the requirements

Check the current AVBC guidance for your stage. Distinguish official requirements from advice about how to study.

Work through original scenarios

Use independently developed teaching cases. Do not share recalled or confidential examination questions.

Reflect on your response

Review what you explained clearly, what you missed and which areas need further study or supervised practice.

A simple structure for clinical reasoning

Identify the main problem, state your priorities and explain your reasoning. Consider important risks and what further information or support you need. This is a preparation framework, not an official marking guide.

Protect confidentiality

Keep patient, client, employer and examination-confidential information out of group discussions and website enquiries.

Explain your decisions

Practise making your priorities, reasoning and relevant risks understandable to another person.

Know the educational boundaries

AVEprep does not certify AVBC case logs or replace supervised clinical experience. Participation does not guarantee an examination result or registration.

Proposed workshop learning activities

Explore the planned learning activities for our four-hour live online workshop. The session combines original cases, guided discussion and reflection. The workshop will be delivered live online through Google Meet. Joining instructions will be provided privately to registered participants.
